Budget Friendly Ways to Add Character to a Basic Bathroom

add character to a builder grade bathroomHey you!! I hope you're all well and staying safe. We've been enjoying all things summer over here. Pools, sprinklers in the yard, popsicles on tap... all the fun stuff. I realized the other day that I don't think I've ever shared my main bathroom with you on here! I've shared on my INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK but never on the blog so I thought I'd share that today along with some easy tips I used to transform this bathroom from a pretty but plain builder bathroom to a fun quirky "Savanna" bathroom...

This bathroom has always been cute. I love the granite and fixtures the builder chose but I just needed to make it more my style. I have a few tips for you when trying to add character to a newer home...

1. Wallpaper
Budget friendly option: contact paper

2. Frame out the mirror
Budget friendly option: Hang a large frame over the mirror

3. Switch out cabinet handles
Budget friendly option: Paint/ rub n buff them

4. Switch out vent covers
Budget friendly option: Spray paint it

Extra tip: Hang regular floor to ceiling curtains as your shower curtain. It draws your eye up and makes the ceilings look so much taller and makes a small bathroom feel larger.

In this bathroom I went with all of the budget friendly options mentioned above except for painting the cabinet handles. I didn't feel the need to do that here. I did add contact paper from Walmart. I couldn't find a link for it but Walmart has tons of fun options in store. I hung up a large vintage frame over the mirror to make it look framed, I spray painted my floor vent with gold spray paint HERE and I added regular floor to ceiling curtains I got from Ikea years ago as my shower curtain.

There's lots of things you can add to a regular bathroom to spice it up but these are just the options I chose in mine. I really have been loving adding character to this new home and making it my own. It's so much different living in a new home compared to a 100 year old home. I love them both for so many different reasons.
Those are my tips for spicing up a regular bathroom! I love adding wallpaper and statements to small spaces. It's a great place to play with color and have fun. I hope you enjoyed and got some inspiration for your own home! Have a fantastic week!

Love you,

Let's be friends!!
