Christmas Decor

We have a special Christmas post for you just in time for Christmas!! I went around and took pictures of our Christmas décor. I didn't do a lot of decorating this year but I did focus on a few places and of course we had to put up a tree..

First Birthday Party!

Well Bjorn turned a year old! I can't believe it. It seriously feels like I was just in the hospital waiting those long 19 hours for him to arrive. He has changed our lives so much and I don't know what I would do without him. He's my best friend! Its been the most stressful, heartbreaking, emotional, wonderful year of my life and I wouldn't change a thing. So much has happened in 2015... good and bad. Having a child changes you and I know I've changed for the better. Even though some days I get stressed and aggravated, I know deep down I am a better person because of that sweet little boy that calls me "mama"...

Halloween Bathroom

Hello all! I know I haven't posted in a while... And I know its almost December and I'm just now posting our Halloween decorations.... And I know I'm not a very consistent blog lady... I'm sorry! I would like to say its because I've just been so busy with my super exciting, fast moving life but unfortunately its just because I've been a little lazy in the blog department... But no longer! I will dedicate more time to my little blog, I promise...

Bjorn's Room : Part Two

Hello all! We've made a few changes over the past couple weeks and I wanted to share them with you!
We moved Bjorn into a bigger room...

30.9.15

Fall Dining Room Table

I found my holiday décor box!!! Weeee!!! Of course it was on the top shelf of a shelving unit in the garage. I thought it was something different so last time I looked in the garage I didn't check that one. I found the box this time of what I thought that box on the top shelf was so I ran over to it and jumped as high as I could to grab it (it fell on top of me but I survived) and ran inside to open it. So naturally I had to do a little decorating...

23.9.15

Living Room

I finally took some time and put the living room up! Normally it's covered in toys and snacks and laundry but no one was home and it finally looked decent so I took some pictures to show you!

9.9.15

Outside!

So I've been feeling very un-inspired lately... I've kind of been in a funk not wanting to do ANYTHING. I don't know if its from stress or what... We've had a pretty rough year and lots of big changes but I finally forced myself to go out yesterday and paint. B was asleep and I had nothing better to do cause lets face it, painting is way better than laundry...

22.7.15

The Master... For Now

As I said in the last post the WHOLE HOUSE IS DONE!! That means we get to sleep in OUR room!! No more sleeping in the once unfinished guest bedroom! Another plus we have a bigger bed!! Yay!! Let's go inside...

Kitchen

I had some pretty light coming through the window the other day so I thought I'd take some pictures of the kitchen...

7.7.15

DIY Kitchen Island

We built an island for the kitchen using an old dresser and some barn wood...

30.6.15

The Dining Room

The dining room is done!! I've been decorating like crazy...

25.6.15

Window Pane Divider

We made a little divider for our living room. It's such a weird shape and there's 3 sliding glass doors! We definitely don't need three but we are using one to go out to the back deck. We put our small  couch in front of one and the other goes to the screened in porch which currently serves as our junk room..... Ah! Anyway.. We had just the couch there but I felt like it needed something more but I didn't want to block the view of the living room or make it feel closed off.  We had these window panes from a garage sale and I thought why not hang them from the ceiling!! Taylor thought I was crazy but ended up liking it :) Thanks Bruce and Taylor for hanging them up...

16.6.15

Laundry Room

Well we're making more progress!! We moved a few more things and I decorated part of the laundry room/ mud room....

The Farmhouse

The Farmhouse

We bought this home in 2015 and renovated it over the course of 5 years. This is where I started my blog and where I truly found my love of creating a beautiful and comfortable home for my children. My oldest son will sometimes say "I miss our old house"... Me too bud, me too.

Starting to move in

Yay!! We've started moving stuff in! We still have two bedrooms to go but we're going to finish the guest bedroom this week (hopefully!) and work on the master while we're living there. Taylor patched the huge holes in the wall in the guest bedroom. He put a new sheet of dry wall up and it looks so much better. No more looking at pipes!

3.6.15

Getting Closer

Well as usual things aren't going to plan! We're hoping to be in by the end of the month. We have some electrical issues and we need to replace some dry wall in the guest bedroom before we can move forward in there. But on the plus side I got the bathroom, laundry, and living room done!

28.5.15

The Past Few Days

Well it's been an exhausting week already. And we definitely wont be moved in by the end of the month! We've ran into problem after problem the passed couple days. I don't even know how many days it's been so that's why I titled it the way I did. Haha! We're all so tired and overwhelmed. I wish we could just hire someone to do it all but that's not an option. So we need to keep pushing and remember how truely blessed we are.

24.5.15

Days Seven and Eight

We started on a bigger project... The floors!

21.5.15

Days Five and Six

Well the past couple days were basically spent fixing things I missed and fixing the paint color issue... Changing out hardware, Changing out the toilet seat... Can you believe out of all the things I've done the hardest thing was changing the toilet seat!? Sheesh! I hope I never have to do that again! EWWW. Anyways...  The guest bedroom is done.

19.5.15

Days Three and Four

We've been working pretty hard the past few days. Everyone's exhausted so we called it an early day today. Yesterday we went shopping for cabinet hardware and some decorations.

17.5.15

Day Two

We got most of the painting done! I never thought I'd see the day. It was such a good day and were so blessed to have such amazing friends and family to help. They all did awesome! We got the kitchen, living room, b's room, laundry room and most of the cabinets done. We just need to finish up the trim, finish the guest bedroom and do the bathroom and master. After that we will go through and touch up any mistakes or missed spots. We're taking a break from painting tomorrow and we're gonna go shopping! Yes just what I need! Here's how it's looking now...

Day One

Yesterday was cleaning day. We got a lot done. Taylor mowed the yard for 10 hours straight! I couldn't believe it. I told him not to complain because he's the one that wanted all the land!... Well let's be real.. I wanted it too but I don't have to mow it! :) I got all of the baseboards off and cabinet doors off and ready for paint today! My mom cleaned windows and wiped off the trim. Pop watched Bjorn and sat on the deck. He kept saying we needed to work harder... Thanks Pop! Today is painting day and  I can't wait to see it all painted! It'll really ease my mind and bring my vision to life. Here's the pile of stuff I pulled off the walls..... Nails, curtains, blinds, vent covers, baseboards, stickers, thumb tacks. You name it, it was on the walls!

14.5.15

Closing!

We're FINALLY closing on the house TOMORROW! I'm so excited to get started on it. As much as I don't want to... I'm going to post some before pictures. This is what it looks like now....
Here's what you see when you first walk in. Our dining room.

Here is our kitchen...

A Dreamy Bedroom

When I moved back home, I was itching to do some decorating. We didn't have a place of our own and I had already decorated the nursery. My parents asked me to do a couple rooms in their house. Their bedroom needed a makeover first so my mom and I went to Tj Maxx and found everything we needed for under $200! It was so fun to go through the store and pick out all the cozy things needed in a bedroom. Their room has a lot of windows and looks out to the garden and trees so I wanted something airy and natural. My parents favorite color is yellow so of course we needed to incorporate some of that into the room. I love to go with a neutral palate and add some color with throws, flowers, and pillows depending on the time of year. We were having a bit of spring fever so we added some greens with the plants and yellow in the pillows and throw blanket.

9.4.15

The Nursery

Anyone who has gotten out of or knows someone who has gotten out of the military probably knows how difficult it is. We moved from California to Missouri with no where to live, no jobs, just a storage unit for all of our furniture. My wonderful parents were gracious enough to take us in. I was 8 months pregnant and very emotional. It wasn't my proudest moment haha! With my passion for interior design I always dreamed I would decorate my childs nursery and organize all of his little clothes in his closet, my husband would set up his crib and dresser... Well moving across the country at 8 months pregnant doesn't really allow for all of that. After I found out I was pregnant I decorated our guest bedroom on base with all of the things I had collected for our future child. I just couldn't help myself! it looked a little something like this...

A year ago today...

WOW I can't believe how fast time is flying by... Last year on April 9th we found out our lives were going to change forever. My husband and I had just gotten back from our anniversary cruise and my parents were visiting us in California.

About

SavannaBrooke.com started when we bought our first home in 2015. I wanted a place to document our projects along the way and this blog quickly turned into something I am so thankful for. It's the best creative outlet for me and something I am passionate about. It has gotten me through some hard times and continues to bless me everyday with an outlet to share my creative side. Our first home was a little farmhouse in small town Lawson Missouri with over 6 acres. I fell in love with it, broken windows and all. Over the course of 4 years I put my all into transforming that house on a major budget. By the end, there wasn't an inch in that home that I hadn't touched. My goal was to make something no one would want into something my family could call home and feel comfortable in. We loved that house but we sold it in 2019 and I am now living in a new construction home with my two sweet boys- Bjorn and Rowen. It's very different living in a new construction home than an old home but I love this house just as much as the old one. Slowly adding character to it and making it home for us is what I'm passionate about. Thank you for following along on my journey!
