Gold Spray Painted Typewriter

Oh my word this is my new favorite thing.... I can't stop starring at it. I sat and looked at it for a solid 5 minutes after I brought it in and got paint all over my hands because I'm the most impatient person I know. Every post has a ridiculous story, so here it goes...

My grandpa gave me this old type writer when he moved. I always knew I wanted it in my house, but honestly it just didn't go with anything as it was so it sat in our barn for a while. I got a new can of gold spray paint for some other projects and remembered I had that old type writer in the barn. I thought to myself I would spray paint it, but kept hesitating because I didn't want to upset my grandpa by painting it (he reads this blog so I hope he isn't mad!! Love you, Peep!!) I finally decided to just go ahead and do it. I couldn't help myself after I saw it done over at Nesting With Grace.

I remembered exactly where it was and what box it was in (or so I thought) so I went out into the barn and it wasn't in the spot I had remembered it being. I looked around and spotted it on top of all the boxes on our very tall shelf we had hanging. ALLL the way up there..... Being the impatient person that I am, I stacked some hay bales we had from our Halloween party, and flipped over a feeding bucket and stacked that on top. You should have seen me climbing up there. After I about fell off and broke my neck two or three times, I was able to get it down. Not only am I impatient, I'm also very stubborn! I was getting that thing down, on thanksgiving night, and it was going to be painted no matter what.

I got my gold spray paint out, in the dark and went to town. I swear my neighbors think I'm insane. I waited a couple minutes for it to dry but I just couldn't wait any more. I cleared off my old Singer sewing machine by my front door and put it there. I couldn't stop smiling and looking at that beautiful shiny gold beauty in my home. It still makes me smile when I see it.

I also decided one morning I was going to paint our front door before work. It had been driving me crazy, my son was still asleep and I had 20 minutes to spare so I did it. My husband got in the shower and by the time he was out, it had one coat on. He thinks I'm crazy too. He didn't even say anything when he walked by...

I went to Michaels the other day and saw all their garlands were 50% off! So I got a few. That little sled is from Target dollar spot, but it was red so I spray painted it gold. The merry and bright sign is also from there. The Believe hanging is from TjMaxx and the little glittery antlers are form Walmart! They had some deer too that I got. I got so many of those little antlers, I just started sticking them everywhere. Everything else is thrifted!

I hope you enjoyed this short post. I just had to share my new favorite thing with you all. Wishing you a great week to come and I can't wait to share more Christmas décor with you. I have lots more to give. Goodnight!!!
