Refreshing My Parent's House: Entry Way 1

entry way with pops of red
Hey there friends! I've been busy over here with all the holiday festivities, I hope you all had a happy and safe 4th of July! It was fun playing with the boys in the water and going to all of the fun bbq's. The boys LOVED setting off smoke bombs and watching the fireworks. Now, back to the grind! I have a new series here and I wanted to share it with you! I am slowly going through and refreshing my parents house. They have a beautiful house that just needs a little freshining up. My first project was this entry way. Let's go see the before...

And here it is with a little refresh!

rustic red and gray entry way

This makeover was totally FREE!
I always start by taking everything out first but I didn't take out the bench or the sconces because I knew they would be going right back in. I didn't paint or anything, although I do plan on painting their front door at some point but I just wanted to show you how I quickly refreshed this space (20 minutes) without spending ANY money, no paint, and using things they already had in their home. So easy and feels like an all new space.

My parents had a designer come in years and years ago and she made it into the southwestern oasis they've always wanted but over the years things just got moved around and shifted and so I thought I'd go back and tweak a few things to update. I wanted pops of color in here so the rug and picture were placed first and then I looked around for some similar colored flowers to flank the bench and pillows to bring the red into the middle. I love how simple but pretty and bright it is in here now.

I added a basket for shoes and that's it! Super simple just switching out decor from other parts of the home and giving it a little pop of color. It's so cheerful now when you enter their home and again, no money needed! You can definitely do this in your own home. Just take everything out of the space and re decorate with things you already own.

I hope you enjoyed and got some inspiration! Next up will be their magazine worthy living room! See ya soon!

Love you,

Let's be friends!!
