Christmas Decor

We have a special Christmas post for you just in time for Christmas!! I went around and took pictures of our Christmas décor. I didn't do a lot of decorating this year but I did focus on a few places and of course we had to put up a tree..

First Birthday Party!

Well Bjorn turned a year old! I can't believe it. It seriously feels like I was just in the hospital waiting those long 19 hours for him to arrive. He has changed our lives so much and I don't know what I would do without him. He's my best friend! Its been the most stressful, heartbreaking, emotional, wonderful year of my life and I wouldn't change a thing. So much has happened in 2015... good and bad. Having a child changes you and I know I've changed for the better. Even though some days I get stressed and aggravated, I know deep down I am a better person because of that sweet little boy that calls me "mama"...

Halloween Bathroom

Hello all! I know I haven't posted in a while... And I know its almost December and I'm just now posting our Halloween decorations.... And I know I'm not a very consistent blog lady... I'm sorry! I would like to say its because I've just been so busy with my super exciting, fast moving life but unfortunately its just because I've been a little lazy in the blog department... But no longer! I will dedicate more time to my little blog, I promise...

Fall Dining Room Table

I found my holiday décor box!!! Weeee!!! Of course it was on the top shelf of a shelving unit in the garage. I thought it was something different so last time I looked in the garage I didn't check that one. I found the box this time of what I thought that box on the top shelf was so I ran over to it and jumped as high as I could to grab it (it fell on top of me but I survived) and ran inside to open it. So naturally I had to do a little decorating...

Living Room

I finally took some time and put the living room up! Normally it's covered in toys and snacks and laundry but no one was home and it finally looked decent so I took some pictures to show you!

Outside!

So I've been feeling very un-inspired lately... I've kind of been in a funk not wanting to do ANYTHING. I don't know if its from stress or what... We've had a pretty rough year and lots of big changes but I finally forced myself to go out yesterday and paint. B was asleep and I had nothing better to do cause lets face it, painting is way better than laundry...

The Master... For Now

As I said in the last post the WHOLE HOUSE IS DONE!! That means we get to sleep in OUR room!! No more sleeping in the once unfinished guest bedroom! Another plus we have a bigger bed!! Yay!! Let's go inside...

Kitchen

I had some pretty light coming through the window the other day so I thought I'd take some pictures of the kitchen...

The Dining Room

The dining room is done!! I've been decorating like crazy...

Window Pane Divider

We made a little divider for our living room. It's such a weird shape and there's 3 sliding glass doors! We definitely don't need three but we are using one to go out to the back deck. We put our small  couch in front of one and the other goes to the screened in porch which currently serves as our junk room..... Ah! Anyway.. We had just the couch there but I felt like it needed something more but I didn't want to block the view of the living room or make it feel closed off.  We had these window panes from a garage sale and I thought why not hang them from the ceiling!! Taylor thought I was crazy but ended up liking it :) Thanks Bruce and Taylor for hanging them up...

Simple DIY

I'm going to share an easy DIY project to cover up ugly things in your home! This took me about 10 minutes to do! For example I'm covering up our electric box. I hate seeing outlets, air conditioning controls, electric boxes, etc in my home... I feel like it draws your focus in and takes away from the beauty of the house. So here it is....

Laundry Room

Still moving

We're still moving.... We're taking it slow because we don't want to have the stress of the move after what we just went through re-doing the house. We have just been bringing in furniture and a few boxes. Naturally when I saw decorations I lost it... Haha! I had to decorate a little something, so I put a few things around... Here is our dining room table.

With our stuff being in storage, I've forgotten what I have! Its so nice to see all of my stuff again!!! Do you remember that old light we found at Habitat for Humanity? We finally got it working.... Originally there was a fan there... I spent TWO hours trying to get that sucker down. Finally it fell down on me (HAHA) and unfortunately when that happened, I pulled out some wiring. Anyways I spent ANOTHER two hours trying to figure out what was wrong... I tried different connections... I'm surprised I didn't burn the house down. I tried the switches different ways, I cried, and finally I gave up. We didn't have a kitchen light for a couple weeks... Finally Taylor went into the attic and cut away some boards and figured out the problem. He hooked the light up and on it went!!! I was so happy!!! It seems so small but its one less stress we have to deal with. These lights (New) are around $30... I got mine for $7 and used a little paint... Here it is before....

And here it is after the spray paint and Edison bulb... I still need to paint that wire. It's driving me crazy... But every time I look at it I smile.. I cant believe its there!! :)

The ONLY room in the house that is COMPLETELY finished is the bathroom.... I decorated it (how I want it for now... It will change 100 different times).... The shower curtain rod is making me twitch, but it works for the time being....

Eventually I want to trim out that mirror or find another one.. Its just one of those builders grade mirrors and it wasn't doing much for me, so I hung up a large empty frame I had. It doesn't fit the mirror but it adds a quirky, country feel to the bathroom...

I just used some twine to hang it up...

I  added some flowers and decorations to make it feel more like home...

I made a little inspiration corner in the kitchen to keep me moving. I cant wait to live here and see it all come together!!

We just have to paint the baseboards in the guest bedroom and we will be LIVING in our house!!!

Have a great week!!!!

Starting to move in

Yay!! We've started moving stuff in! We still have two bedrooms to go but we're going to finish the guest bedroom this week (hopefully!) and work on the master while we're living there. Taylor patched the huge holes in the wall in the guest bedroom. He put a new sheet of dry wall up and it looks so much better. No more looking at pipes!

I just need to paint it and then we can start on the floor.

B's room is DONE!! He has a full size bed in there because we have some guests coming to stay with us and he sleeps in our room anyway... Here he is enjoying it!

And here's a sneak peak of his room :)

My grandpa made this toy chest in 1954 for my dad. They moved here recently from Ohio and brought us a bunch of goodies! We're so happy they're finally here! This was one of them.

It's so cute and goes with b's room so well!

We hung curtains throughout the house too :)

Here's my grandparents hutch they gave us. I love antiques and this thing is gorgeous! They also gave us their dining room set along with a bunch of other things still in our garage. I have yet to go through all of it but as I do I'll post pictures!

The dining room walk way needed a little something so I found these shelf brackets (I think that's what you call them...) at a flea market and painted them black then just nailed them into the corners! It makes such a huge statement for such a little project.

And here's a sneak peek of our living room. We moved in the couches and a few tables. I can't wait to live here. I fall more in love everyday.

Have a great week!!
I hope the next post will be more exciting!

Getting Closer

Well as usual things aren't going to plan! We're hoping to be in by the end of the month. We have some electrical issues and we need to replace some dry wall in the guest bedroom before we can move forward in there. But on the plus side I got the bathroom, laundry, and living room done!

I just painted in the bathroom. We're leaving the floor in here because it just needs a good cleaning.

Here is the living room. Its FINISHED! Yay!! I'm not going to show full pictures until I get it all decorated :)

Bjorns room...

Taylor and his friend Ian got Bjorns floor all done. It looks great!
Here he is enjoying it!

We put some extra base board wood in the windows to finish them off a bit. Ideally we want to put molding around all of  them but that's out of the budget for right now. Someday though!

We did have enough left over to do the window in the dining room...
It looks so much bigger!

Here it is painted...

We started the baseboards in B's room and finished them in the living and laundry rooms. I started painting B's baseboards so they just need to be nailed in and finished with quarter round.

I can't wait to decorate this side porch. I see myself spending most of my time out here and I cant wait to hear the rain on the tin roof!

Soon my boys will be playing in their paradise. I can't wait!!

Hope you are having a wonderful rainy Wednesday!!

The Past Few Days

Well it's been an exhausting week already. And we definitely wont be moved in by the end of the month! We've ran into problem after problem the passed couple days. I don't even know how many days it's been so that's why I titled it the way I did. Haha! We're all so tired and overwhelmed. I wish we could just hire someone to do it all but that's not an option. So we need to keep pushing and remember how truely blessed we are.

Taylor finished the living room and let me tell you it looks professional. I am so impressed with how good he did! That fireplace was really tricky but he figured it out. I'm so proud of him! Aaron suggested he cut the bottom of the brick off so the floor would float underneath it and it wouldn't have a gap. We struggled for a while trying to figure out what to do with it until Aaron came along!

Bjorn passed out. He just worked way too hard!

We went to Habitat for Humanity Restore in KC and it is AWESOME! If you haven't been and need anything for your house, you should definitely go there! We got these lights for less than $10 a piece! What! I have plans for them. I'll post those later!

This light we got at Home Depot. It had two of them in a box for $22! I couldn't pass that up. I put one in the bathroom and the dining room and it makes the rooms look so much different. Plus it matches the hardware on our cabinets!

No more big ugly fan!

I changed out the globes on the living room fan and it made a big difference. I didn't take a before picture but trust me it's better! The other ones were just too old fashioned for me.

We started on the baseboards. I didn't realize how hard and time consuming it would be. Well all of it is worse than I thought... When you think about it, "oh it just needs some paint, floors, new baseboards... no big deal" and then you actually start doing it... Oh well... We will get there! We almost have the dining room done...
The walls are so wavy and un even. But it adds character right?! Its an old house. I don't expect it to be perfect!

I bought out Ace Hardwares quarter round yesterday. The floors are so un even so we can't just have the base boards. Plus it makes it look more finished. I cut all 9 pieces today and placed them where they will go throughout the house. I still need to buy more to finish the rest of the house but it almost covered the dining, kitchen and laundry room.

We almost got B's room done. We just have one more strip and inside the closet to go...

We laid the underlay in the guest bedroom and I don't even want to talk about our bedroom...

It's a mess. I'm so afraid to pull those boards up and see what's underneath. Ugh! It's gonna be another long day so wish us luck!!! Hopefully we will be done soon.
